A Good Laugh

Hi!

This week was decent as far as I am concerned.  The weekly success of a missionary all depends on what happens on Sunday. To understand such a thing, you have to think about the process and the objective as a missionary is "to Baptize" and one can’t enter in to this covenant without the ordinance of the Sacrament. So if they don’t come to church they will never be baptized!! I was disappointed this week with a few people, who for one reason or another didn’t come to church.

We found and shared with a lot of people.  It is just they didn’t come to church and many of them have read and already are Great people and citizens who keep most of the commandments.  They will take a little more patience but they are doing fine.

It is amazing how understanding true knowledge of how the things really are, help one make the right decisions.  We are teaching the Ruiz Family; where the father has a great desire to learn.  And it was amazing how talking about Personal Revelation and the Word of Wisdom helped him understand the need he has in stopping drinking.   We have to talk and see how he is doing with that.

Hahaha.  So we were at lunch on Friday and the sister is telling us about what had happened last Sunday and why it smelled funky in the house. She said that her husband had cooked the dogs’ meat and had left it on the stove and went to lie down and forgot about it until she arrived home to a house filled with smoke and to find the bones more like charcoal than anything else.  Anyways, I see the face of my companion become incredibly shocked and I knew in an instant what the problem was.  I started laughing because he thought that they were cooking “dog meat” instead of the meat for the dogs.

Anyways, I got a good laugh out of that.
Love you all!
Have a great week!

God Will Help Us

Dear Family and Friends,

This week has been a week where I have learned that God will help us do exactly what we needed to do in his work.  On Saturday of the eight (8) set lessons we had planned out 7 of them stood us up.  After the 4th lesson my companion turns to me and says there is someone that God expects us to find and that is why all of our lessons are falling and he kept saying that the entire day; which was cool because it was the only way that we were going to visit Santiago and Epifania, who, are inactive converts of about one year.  Elder Brownlee had yet to meet them and I had to hear his words to start paying closer attention to what the Spirit indicated. So we went and visited them and it was just what they needed. They came to church for the first time since a month after their baptism.

My companion is from California and he talks a lot in ingles (English) and it was a little harder of transfer because he lacks the experience that Elder Paredes had, so the things are a little bit rougher but we are doing great.

We had two investigators in the church this Sunday and they really enjoyed the services.

The work is moving onward and nothing can hold it back.  I only have 31 days left to baptize and I expect to make the most of this time!!!

Truth is Truth.  God Exists and Jesus is His Only Begotten Son, who has blessed us with the gift of Repentance and Salvation.  May we all apply these marvelous gifts in our lives and search continually for good work that you may do.

I love you all,
Elder Call

Call Me Cupid

Dear Family & Friends:

Yea, you can call me cupid! Haha!  Anais and Elias took one huge leap towards the eternity. This Saturday they got married and Anais was baptized.  It really was something incredibly beautiful. They passed through some great trials which were all resolved in the Book of Mormon, which was awesome. They are super excited to start this path to the eternities and realize that there will surely be many rough roads ahead, but if they will continue to read like they have been reading, they will do just fine.  In every sense the Book of Mormon has all the answers to life’s problems. Like Lehi´s counsel in his famous dream, if they will just grab on to the Book of Mormon and hold on to it every single day it will take us to the love of God and to His mercy.  If we don’t, Good Luck!  I just hope that the mists of darkness don’t come and take us away.

Anyways, that was awesome!  I love the Book of Mormon.  It really has become my favorite book.  It has such a powerful spirit that those who will humble themselves enough to read it, will come closer to God. May we all search to be humble

As for transfers, Elder Paredes left and Elder Brownlee came to be my companion.  He is from Fremont, CA and has been out six months.

The week was good.  We are working with quite a few people and we will see some great progress.

Love,
Elder Call

Changes

Dear Family,

It really was a pleasure to be able to talk with you, all even though it was cut short. Nevertheless, Ben says we only have 48 days to be separated!!!!!

This week was crazy!!! Anais and Elias are super excited for their wedding and baptism this coming weekend!! The Awesome part of all of this is that it is the result of the Power of the Book of Mormon. When people Read the Book of Mormon, they change it is that simple.

This past Friday, Alma was baptized and she is doing great.

Elder Paredes will be leaving tomorrow and I do not know who will be coming here with me. We are seeing some great success with the members here in Puerto Pabla.

Love you all!

AHHHHH

Dear Family & Friends:

As for our week!!! AHHHHH

This week was super downing.  It made us quite sad.

Monday night we arrive in the home of Cesar to do a FHE and finish preparing him for his baptism and all was good.  We enter in the house and the mom says ´´well it looks like Cesar is not going to be baptized this Saturday.¨ We were super shocked!  So we asked to talk with Cesar alone and he expressed his concerns about the baptism and how he really doesn’t want to be baptized, to then just drop the church and continue playing soccer, which, he knows will happen.  We tried to help him see the importance of the church and the gospel and tried helping him decide between soccer or church.  He prayed and was not willing to give up soccer.  He has not been willing to meet with us since and did not come to church yesterday.  Anyways he did not get baptized.

Anais and Elias are putting back their wedding.  They have absolutely terrible influences all around them and are being dragged down by their pressure.

This Friday, a young girl named Alma will be baptized, if her father doesn’t change his mind in the coming week.  I hope not.  She is 13 years old and super buena.

This Sunday was awesome!  It was one of the most powerful testimony meetings that I have participated in for a long time.  There is no doubt that God lives and that He guides this marvelous work. The Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, has been called of God, as well as the 12 Apostles.  They posses all of the keys to the Kingdom of God needed for the Salvation and Exaltation of the children of men

Thanks for all of the service you all give to God.
Love,
